James Garrison RWS b. 1747 (MD) d. 1840 (IL)

Does anyone know the latest theory, or has there been any recent proof (DNA news?) as to the lineage of James Garrison, who was a RWS born in Frederick, MD and died in Greene County, Illinois?

He is my 5th great grandfather (through the James Garrison, Jr. / Rachel Looper line, which resided in White Co. IL).

The last info I've seen about lineage for James, Sr. is that it's been proven that he is NOT from the Garrisons of Montebaun, France. If anyone knows his lineage, please post reply or send me an email.
