Hi Jim, You probably have more info than I have. I have not yet taken a trip to White County, but need to.
I am descended from the Shorts of White County. My GGrandmother was Nancy Ann Short who married Charles Albert Blackledge. Nancy was the daughter of William H. Short and Myrtle (Nettie) Hedge(s). William was the son of James H.(Henry) Short and Louisa Brown. I have not "proved" that this James Short is the son of Henderson (Anderson) Short that you mention, but the dates support it. If you would like, send me an e-mail. Much of my mother's family came from White County including Blackledge/Blacklidge, Short, and Tate.
