Found this marriage record interesting............

GREER, JAMES N TO ELLISON, MARIA IN WHITE CO, IL ON 03/24/1835 001/

====

GREER JAMES N FD NWSW 09 06S 09E 3 40.00 1.25 50.00 MALE 02/08/1836 WHITE 110 040 WHITE

I checked Frank's census records for 1880 and 1900. In 1880 both parents born IL in 1900 both parents born England.
Who knows?

I also found that Frank was married at least twice.

Maybe if you pull a copy of Frank's first and second marriage record you might get more detailed information, especially on the second as they provided more personal detail 20 years later.

I checked the White County transcribed Cemetery records and did not find a James or Maria Greer buried there.

GREER, FRANCIS M ROWE, PHOEBE CLINTON 06/20/1888 1 /122 764

GREER, FRANCIS M [LICENSES DATE] BEATY, ELIZABETH CLINTON 11/27/1868 2 /36 16

Have you contacted the White County Historical Society to see if they have any members researching the Greer families in the area?

Linda R.
