Alfred May was the son of Balaam and Sarah Morris May, born Feb. 9, 1796 in Wilkes Co. Ga. He and Amanda were married in White Co. Il. July 11, 1820. They left White Co. and moved to Jo Daviess Co. in 1836. They had eleven children. Alfred died March 22, 1875 and Amanda died in June of 1883 or 1888. they are both buried in the Evergreen Cem. in Jo Daviess Co. Il. I have the names and approximate birth dates of the children. Balaam, born 1828, Amanda born 1832, Matilda born 1831, Alfred born 1835, James born 1840, Joseph born 1845 and Zachary born 1847. The 1830 census for White Co. Il lists three females 5-10 years old for Alfred's household. One of them could be the Sara Edna, but that would definitely make her birth place White Co. Il. Hope this information helps.
