Your gg-grandfather, James H. Rhodes was also my gg-grandfather. His son, James H. Jr was my g-grandfather; his daughter, Elvira was my mother's mother.

I have some information on the Rhodes clan, some that I had and some I received from another Rhodes "cousin". The information on William Rhodes (who was in the 98th Illinois Infantry) is not extensive. I have that he was born about 1841, probably White Co, Illinois (James H was shown to have been there in 1840 census but in Wayne Co, IL by the 1850 census). By 1860 William shows up in the census as a farm laborer, age 18. He is listed as being in Company F, 98th Illinois Infantry between Aug 9 and Dec 21, 1862. As far as William is concerned, that's all that I have. I recollect having some information on a Civil War relative who died in the hospital during the war somewhere in Tennesse, I believe. Don't know if it was William or not, but I will look into it more and see what I can find.

If you would like to see what I've got on the Rhodes family in general, please let me know.
