While researching a second marriage family in Wayne County I noted that there were Smiths in the Winland Cemetery, Wayne County, Illinois. This is near Golden Gate, so it may be a starting point or you may recognize some of the names.

Golden Gate is located at 38¡Æ21¡Ç31¡ÈN, 88¡Æ12¡Ç16¡ÈW (38.358673, -88.204444).GR1

The village has a total area of 0.2 km©÷ (0.1 mi©÷), all land. The town was built by the Leech family in the late 1800's. The township that surrounds the Golden Gate area is also known as Leech township after the Leech family. Golden Gate was built along the railroad tracks and the Little Wabash river for business needs.

As of the 2000 census, there were 100 people, 39 households, and 28 families still residing in the village.

hope this helps.
Linda
