Claudette, I have an interest in Shrums because there seems to be a possibility that my Ggrandfather, Larkin Kelly Austin, had a sister Elizabeth (Ethel) Austin who was married to Peter King Shrum, son of Peter Shrum.
I know there was a close tie between the two families,- because Peter King's name was listed as security on a document made by Larkin Austin giving distribution of his property in 1836 before Peter King and Larkin moved to adjacent properties in So. Illinois,(Wayne County)
If you could add information in this regard, I would certainly appreciate it. I've been trying to find the parents of Larkin and James S. Austin. Thanks, Lester (Bud) Austin ---email--iclaim@comcast.net
