The McGinnises/Maginnises, etc. were one of the Irish tribes whose territories were in Lecale & Kinelarty - South Down.
For that reason the name is found in the greatest numbers in and around Newry. Various spellings are found such as Maginn and Mackin. The 1886 Directory for Newry lists 11 with the name Maginnis/Maginn and Mackin. Some of these may well be descendants, iam looking for Thomas OR William, Mcginnis 1710 or befor?
