Dear Jay:
I have seen your name in the Hoff genealogical research material before, and would love to help you make the connection to my Hoff line, if I can.It would be best to contact me DIRECTLY, either by phone in Chicago at (312) 346-811 or E/M at
As you may know, I come from the "Dutch" line of Hoffs that ended up in Dallas Co., and Des Moines, Iowa (from ~
1854 to the present), via Peoria, IL(1842-54), Marietta, Chesterhill, Washington Co., OH (1805-1842), Northern Virginia(~1770-1805), and before that, NJ (~1700-~1770) and NY.My direct lineal Hoff ancestry is me (1946 - Des Moines, IA - now in Chicago), my father, JOHN RICHARD HOFF (1909-1970), my Grandfather, JOHN CASIUS HOFF (1875 Dallas Co., 1960 DSM, IA), my 1XG Grandfather, JOHN H. HOFF (1830 Chesterhill, OH - 1909 Dallas Co., IA), 2XG POWELL HOFF (1801 VA - 1870 Dallas Co., IA) {the next there is some dispute: it is either: (1) AMOS HOFF (1775-1855) or (2) JOHN F. HOFF (1775-1812), depending upon which cousin's research you like best. However the father of each appears to have been the well-documented Rev. DANIEL HOFF, and back up his line to NJ & NY.So, briefly, that is my line.
How are you related back up the Hoff line?I have amassed quie a bunch of data and would like to help, if I can, but need a "start".
Best regards, JOHN S. HOFF
