Nancy Dodge (b. Harrison Co., Indiana)married Samuel H. Ritchey (b. Kentucky) on the 8th of February, 1844 in Knox County. They lived in Abingdon the rest of their lives. They had four or more children: William, born abt. 1850, died young Frank L., born abt. 1855, never married, publisher of the "Abingdon Express" Douglass, born abt. 1857, died young Elmer, born abt. 1862, married Ida Burridge in 1890 in Illinois, had two daughters: Cleta Blossom and Vera. Nancy and Samuel divorced around 1870. I can find Samuel and Frank in Abingdon in the 1870 census, but not Nancy and Elmer. She returns for the 1880 census, living with both Frank and Elmer. Nancy and Samuel were both members of the Meridian Church in Warren County, as Nancy was cousin to the Dodges who were co-founders of that church. I cannot find the graves for any of these people. Old letters indicate that Nancy's mother was living near or with her in the 1870s, but I can find nothing on her. Can anyone find Nancy and Elmer in the 1870 census, please? Perhaps with a mother? Has anyone access to the Meridian Church records and could look for any familial reference to Nancy, please, maybe finding her mother? Has anyone access to marriage registrations in Knox County to see who the witnesses/parents were at Nancy's and Samuel's marriage, please? If all else fails, has anyone any suggestions of where else I might look, please? Thank you Anna Notify Administrator about this message?
