A Land Patent issued(dated) March 19, 1818 to:
Ruth Bacon, mother and the other heir at law of John Bacon, Deceased
deposited Warrant No.15352
John Bacon, deceased, late a private in Chapman's Company of the 21 Reg of Infantry
One Hundred Sixty Acres in Territory of Illinois
James Monroe was President.
Illinois statehood 12/03/1818
This area later become Warren County (formed 1825) and then Henderson County (formed 1841)
I am trying to determine if the above Bacon's were related to Silas and Chloe Bacon
who came to the area that is now Henderson County in 1837 from New York
and "entered into 160 acres Federal Land and began farming".
I have been unable to locate a "Land Patent" in name of Silas for that time period
Silas died in 1841 leaving Chloe with five children two of which were girls that died in 1844.
They had three sons: Alonzo, Franklin and Ransom
Franklin is my gg-grandfather, he married a Lucretia Lake in 1851 Henderson County
and may have remarried to a Gennett/Jennett Anderson in 1863 Henderson County.
Franklin was still in Henderson County in 1880. After that I have found no record of him.
It may be that he went on to Mills or Pottawattamie Counties, Iowa which is where his
son Charles and daughters Almira (Bacon) Priest and Castella Viola (Bacon) Shull moved to.
I have been unable to find any record of Alonzo and Ransom after the 1850 census.
Any information at all on the above family would be greatly appreciated and I am willing to
share any information I have.
Any information on the Lake family would also be appreciated.
1850 Henderson Ill census: Johnson Lake 65 NY.....Mary Lake 46 NY.....Elisha Lake 27 Ohio
Lucretia Lake 18 Ohio.....Esther Lake 17 Ohio .......Solomon Lake 14 ILL .......Sarah Lake 12 ILL
