Hi Jay, I will pursue Jacob. Seems like everytime I find a family he might fit in, someone already has that John. John Married Julia. 28 Oct 1816. Search LDS has her as Julia, so do all the census. (Although the married record I received has Judie Graves). Daughter Of John Graves, Madison Co Va. Julia's b.p. is always given as N Y . The one place I find where Dr James's mother b.p. is given as Va in 1880 census. It is understandable,(is that a word?) as they married in Va. But John and James sometime gave their B .p. as Tn or Va. James was born abt 1818. So, he fits as their oldest son.He nevers live far from them, either. James gives Knox Co Tn as b.p. on medical record. But I assume by the time he gave that info, Va was a lot smaller. The Sniders to whom I think he is connected give Blount Tn. as area where they were, Knox was formed from Blount, and they were both Va @ one time, I think. He could have left N C via Va to Illinois. Thank You for taking the time and interest to help me. As we say in Southern Illinois,(the home of the Salukis and World Trotting Derby) I appreciate you.
