Christian Peeler, the son of Marx Christian, date of birth is in question. Christian is shown in the 1790 census in Wake County, NC. In the 1800 census he is found in Hillsboro, Orange Co. NC. In the 1810 census he is in Carolina, Rowan County, NC. We have not found Christian in any 1820 Census. In the 1830 census he is in Johnson County, IL. In the 1840 census he is again found in Union Co., IL. Union County is next to Johnson Co., to the west. He is shown with 1 M 60/70; 2 M 20/30; 1 M 5/10; 1 F 20/30; 2 F 15/20. He is not shown in the 1850 census and we believe that he may of died in 1849. In the 1850 census David is shown as head of the Household with Racher living in the HH alond with Nancy, Jacob, Rachel and Adaline Peeler. All his children were born in NC except 2 daughters, Rachel b 1832 District 2, Union Co., IL and Adaline b 1849 District 2, Union Co. IL

Christian's wife was Rachel Brown b ca 1777. Before marrying Christian Rachel and Daniel Josey had at least one child and possible 2 children. I don't think they married, matter of fact, the court records indicate that Rachel Brown sued Daniel Josey for bastardy. "Minutes of the Court of Peas & Quarter Session 1800 states, 4 Nov 1800 ordered by the Court that Daniel Josey pay Rachael Brown twelve pounds for the first year for nursing and a bastard child begotten on her body by said Daniel six pounds to be recovered on execution. Rachel later married Christian Peeler

I posted a query to the Union Co., Forum approx. 3 years ago asking if anyone could give me more information on the family and last week a gentleman replyed saying that he bought a partial of land about 1 1/2 years ago and it has a cemetery on it. The cemetery was in bad shape, overgrown, markers knocked over some buried in a couple of inches of soil. One marker that he discovered was a marker of Rachel Peeler wife of Christian Peeler. My notes indicate that Rachel was buried at Johnson Pond, Delonga, IL and Christian was also buried there. There are several Peeler markers in the cemetery. The searching on this cemetery is in its initian stage and I will keep this forum up to date on our progress.
