In the name of God, amen.

I, ANSLUM GUTHRIE, of the County of Union and State of Illinois, being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to say,

First, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, the residue of my estate, real and person, I give, bequeath and dispose of as follows, to wit: to my son, JAMES B. GUTHRIE, the following described pieces or parcels of land hereinafter described by their numbers, to wit:
the southwest quarter of Section Nine (9), Township Eleven (11), South of Range One (1) West, containing one hundred and sixty acres (160),
also the northwest quarter of the northwest quarter of Section Sixteen (16), Township Eleven (11) South of Range One (1) West, containing forty (40) acres,
also the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter of Section Eight (8), Township Eleven (11) South of Range One (1) West, containing forty (40) acres,
also the southeast quarter of the southeast quarter of Section Eight (8) in Township Eleven (11) South of Range One (1) West, containing forty (40) acres,
also the northwest quarter of the northeast quarter of Section Sixteen (16) in Township Eleven (11) South of Range One (1) West, containing forty (40) acres.
I give and bequeath to my son, JAMES B. GUTHRIE, the aforesaid described lands upon the following conditions, that is, if my son, JAMES B. GUTHRIE, takes care of me and my beloved wife, MATILDA GUTHRIE, during our natural lives. I also give to my son, JAMES B. GUTHRIE, all my books, maps and my rifle gun and also all my farming utensils that may be in my farm at my death.

I will and bequeath to my eldest daughter, ELIZABETH D. WALLACE, the sum of one hundred ($100) dollars in money.

I also will and bequeath to my daughter MILLY C. RICH the sum of one hundred ($100) dollars in money.

I also will and bequeath to my daughter HARRIET DAVIS the sum of one hundred ($100) dollars in money.

I also will and bequeath to the two heirs of my deceased daughter, ASSENETH D. TYGET, the sum of fifty ($50) [dollars] each in money.

And I further will and bequeath to my son, JAMES B. GUTHRIE, all other property or money that may be left after paying the above amounts named.

Likewise I make, constitute and appoint my said son, JAMES B. GUTHRIE, executor of this, my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made, and it is my wish and request that my executor pay over the several sums of money to the persons above named, and it is my wish that there be no sale of the property.

In conclusion it is my will and wish and [I] do will and bequeath to my son, JAMES B. GUTHRIE, all my real and personal estate that I may have at my death, he paying the amounts of money to the several persons named in this, my will.

In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this fourth day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy-One.

The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Anslum Guthrie in our presence and acknowledged by him to each of us and he at the same time published and declared the above instrument so subscribed to be his last will and testament and we at the testator's request and in his presence have signed our names as witnesses hereto and written opposite our names our respective places of residence.

Union County} ss. In the County Court of said County.

In probate, February Term, A. D. 1879, personally appeared in open court Lorenzo P. Wilcox and Winstead Davie, subscribing witnesses to the annexed instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Anslum Guthrie, late of said County, deceased, who, being duly sworn according to law, do depose and say, each for himself, that he was present and saw the said Anslum Guthrie sign said will in their presence and that they believe that the said testator was of sound mind and memory [and] of lawful age and under no constraint when he signed said will.

OATH OF EXECUTOR

State of Illinois}
Union County} In County Court, Feb. Term, A.D. 1879

I do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will and testament of the within named ANSLUM GUTHRIE, deceased, so far as I know or believe, and that I will well and truly execute the same by paying first the debts and then the legacies mentioned therein so far as his goods and chattels will thereunto extend and the law charge me, and that I will make a true and perfect inventory of all such goods and chattels, rights and credits as may come to my hands or knowledge belonging to the estate of said deceased, and render a fair and just account of my executorship when thereunto required by law, to the best of my knowledge and abilities, so help me God.
