1835-1865: CHURCHILL, EDWARDS, WILCOXON, BADGER, LENNINGTON

I am trying to fill in information on several related families who settled in the Freeport area in the mid 1800s.

Maria CHURCHILL m. 1st Levi WILCOXON who d. 1852; 2nd, Baltus LENNINGTON who d. before 1859; and 3rd, John Thornton EDWARDS. Maria's brother, Charles CHURCHILL, and their sister, Fannie (m. Hugh BADGER) also lived in the area.

There was also an Amos EDWARDS and a John EDWARDS who may have been related to John Thornton EDWARDS.

I have all the information readily available from the Illinois marriage records, US census records and land records and the 3 Stephenson County Histories that are on-line at ancestry.com.

I do NOT have:

* information about John Thornton EDWARDS' family or where he was from 1833-1858, or why he came to Stephenson County
* a marriage record for John and Maria (they are a family with her children from previous marriages and a child of their own in the 1860 census)
* the date of Maria's death (probably between 1860 and 1864) or where she is buried

I am hoping that someone descended from a related family or a neighbor in the Freeport area may have additional information to share that is not in the official records - or a suggestion where I could look.

As always, I am more than happy to share what information I have on any of the above families.

Lorrell
