Barney Runnels & Ellizabeth C Crockett TN to IL ( niece of Davy)
Seeking info onthis family lineof Barney Runnels who married Elizabeth C Crockett( niece of Davy) in Lincoln County TNHe was a military man and I have heard his father fought in the military as well
My line comes from their adopted cherokee daughter Nancy
Barney Reynolds/Runnels . Born on Nov. 12 1822 inLincoln, TN and died Nov. 30th 1880 in Shelby, IL. He was married to Elizabeth CarolineCrockett (neice of Davy Crockett) on Sept. 13, 1838 in Franklin, TN. Barney and Elizabeth had 12 children. Nancy, David, Mary, Jacob, Newton, Sarah, George, Lucinda, Andrew, Elizabeth, Eliza, and Malinda. At that time he went by Runnels. His wife, Elizabeth was born on Dec. 26th 1821 and died Apr. 20th 1862.
Because of differences with a family member, Barney changed his last name to Reynolds before he married his next wife
they were
married in Franklin Co Tn and moved to IL sometime before 1840 Barney
was in the Tn mtd Vol in the second Cherokee War and was involved with
escorting the Cherokees on the trail of tears. Barney's father fought
in the War of 1812 and was severely wounded .
Their daughter Nancy is believed to be the adopted Cherokee , who
later married Isaac Rector. Nancy and Isaac Rector lived in Tn and had
a son, Freeman Rector, who married the'prettiest girl in Putnam co
,Tennessee Byers"
Any info on any of these members would be appreciatedShe was not on the
Cherokee rollsIt is my understanding thatoften families hid the Indian heritage in that era
thanks for any and all assistance in this quest!
