my amos paxton who is my 5gf will not be in any paxton books that have came out. that i can tell of he is unknown. born 1793 vir. ( have not found any connection yet to trace to vir.) he served under capt. greenup"s detachment of the 1st regiment of illinois militia at kaskaskia the 3rd of sept. 1812. then also under capt. thomas e. craig, from the 5th of sept. to the 2nd of dec. 1812. by dec.6,1815 had pulled to rank of ensign & 2nd lieutenant. i found amos had bought supplies at kaskaskia on nov.9,1815 in (william morrison store ledger), about the age of 22 in 4-17-1815 he bought 160 acres s. of ruma
( T5 R8) families around this time was the levens,crozler"s,o"harra,mudd,simpson,donahue,orr"s,
brewer"s & hull"s.
1820 cen. it shows amos with 2 males & 1 other white free
person. richard brewer & john brewer bought 87.85 acres
from amos in 5-28- 1821. sometime between 1821-1830 amos
left ill. & went to hickman co.,ky for i find him on the 1830 cen. with his wife elizabeth ? maiden name unknown born tn.,1810 & 2 children born in ky.
