Site of Mormontown near Pittsfield

If someone is driving in the area (3 miles east of Pittsfield) would they check to see if the site still exists? At one time there was a marker noting that the site was a settlement of Mormon's who fled Missouri in 1839 and settled for a short time in that particular area. My ggreat grandfather was born in Barry Township in Oct. 1839, and I think this is "the place" as parents were Mormon's fleeing Far West, Missouri. Peter Boice/Boyce who would be baby's uncle sold a lot of land in Twp. 25 of Pike County in 1841. Is this same area? Thanks!
