Aaron Thornton -- HELP!!
Posted by: Don Thornton (ID *****9012) Date: September 24, 2003 at 12:15:56

This is all I know about my ggg grandfather Aaron Thornton. I have his brother's as Joel and Luke. No other info on siblings:

Born about 1772-76 in NC (perhaps VA)

Found in various land, tax and Census records for Wilkes Co., NC from 1797 - 1805
Found in various land, tax and census records for Warren Co., KY from 1805 - 1829
Found in various land. tax and census records for Pike Co., Illinois from 1831 - 1840

Aaron's wife's name is Sarah Evans

Aaron and Sarah's children are:
Joel (b. 1800 in Wilkes Co., NC; md Anna Honaker 1823 in KY)
Nancy ( b. 1804 in Wilkes Co., NC and md John N Lindsey or Linsley abt 1830 in KY),
Larkin (b 1805 in Wilkes Co., NC; md Polly Boone Allen 1830 in Illinois) ,
Aaron (b 1808) in Warren Co., KY; md Sarah Bright 1828 in KY) ,
Unknown son (b 1800-1810 in Warren Co., KY) ,
Nathaniel (b 1811 in Warren Co., KY; md Lucinda Bagby 1831 in Illinois) ,
Mary (b 1805 in Warren Co., KY and married 1st Israel Brawdy abt 1833 in Illinois, 2nd Nathaniel Harlow 1838 in Illinois)
Unknown son (b. 1810 - 1815 in Warren Co., KY ).

I do not know when or where Aaron or his wife Sarah Evans were born.

I do not know for sure who the parents are of Aaron or Sarah. I have John Thornton as the father of Aaron, but the name John does not appear in the names of descendants. Whereas the names Aaron, Joel and Nathaniel do keep repeating.

I do not know the date and place of Aaron’s marriage to Sarah Evans, only that it was before the birth of their first son Joel who was born in Wilkes Co., NC in 1800.

Thank you so much for your help,
Don
