Hi Dick; Do you have a time frame? If you're interested in movement prior to the 1880 census, you could search that census for young children, born in IL and now living in Hamilton CO. You might be overwhelmed by hits, but at least the 1880 census is wonderfully searchable. My ancestors, Thomas Mull and his wife Experience Smith, moved from Pike Co to Howard County NE by the 1880 census. They were originally from NJ, moved to IL after the 1855 census, and stayed in IL thru the 1870 census. Family lore says that they were involved in outfitting covered wagon trains and moved as the trails moved and developed. I don't know how accurate this is! I think Howard Co (town of Cotesfield) is near Hamilton Co. Good luck, Lynn
