John East married Mabel Hull McCarrol, a widow. Her first husband was killed when he tried to hop a train and fell under it. Mabel had a son, Don McCarrol. John and Mabel never had any children. John and Don farmed together until John's death. John and Mabel buried together in Kinderhook cemetery. He used to go out west to visit a brother. Mabel was the granddaughter of David Hull and his wife Sarah Sperry Hull. Hull, Ill. is named after David. David was a farmer and depot agent. It was called Hull's Station. The official name of the town is Hull's. David and Sarah had three children, Everett, Mary, and Minnie. Everett married a girl from Frankfort, Ohio and they had Mabel and Russell. Mary married Charles Gray and they had David Burton Gray and Ralph Gray. Everett Hull was the postmaster of Hull, Ill for many years. Russell Hull married Pink Redden of Spaulding, Mo., and the had Shirley and Margarie. Shirley married Glenn Geyer and they had a boy and a girl. Glenn lives in Rolla, Mo. Shirley married Mr. Lewis and lived in Florida. She had one son.

Donald McCarrol married Norma Tooley and they had one daughter Joyce. She is married and lived in Joliet, Ill. Don and Norma divorced and he married several more times.

Minnie Hull married Mr. Nye and they lived at Springfield, Mo.

I always had the impression that John and Mabel lived on the farm of John East's parents, but don't know that for sure. They had two houses, one in town next to the house she had grown up in and the one in the country on the farm. The two houses were only about a mile apart.

A daughter in law of David Burton Gray lives in the Everett Hull house today. David Burton Gray married (1) Iva Lou Redden, sister of Pink Redden Hull; (2) Hazel Lewton. D.B. (as he was known) and Iva Lou had Archie and Charles. Archie never married. Charles married Francis Lucille Colgrove and they had Steve, Phillip, Lou Ann, and Christopher. Francis, (Fanny Lou) lives in the Everett Hull house. Archie and Charles are dead. Steve, Phillip, Lou Ann, and Christopher are all married and live in Florida. D. B. and Hazel had David and Robert (Bob) David, an M.D., is married and lives in Penn. Bob is married twice and I think also lives in Penn. Hazel died about a year ago.

Joyce McCarrol is married and has several grown children. She is 60 years old.

Mabel was an extremely good woman, very well liked. She described herself as a "free thinker." She never missed Baptist Church in her life, but never joined the church.

I barely remember John as a short stocky quiet guy. Someplace I have an old newspaper or some letters concerning one of his brothers.
