Pearl, IL (Pike County) orphanage

I am searching for information on my grandfather, Frank David Gorrell, born 11-21-1896. I just recently found out that he was from a Pearl, IL (Pike County) orphanage. He married (at aprox. age 39) Katherine Mae Thompson in Vernon Co, WI, and they had three children. He also (supposedly) served in both the Army and the Navy, joining at age 17. Does anyone know of an orphange in Pearl, IL probably around 1900? This one of my 'brick walls', and due to several fires in county buildings and on his farm, records have been destroyed. Thanks
