Hi Barb,

Thanks again for your help! I used the SSDI for the names you listed and it shortened my list quite a bit--to only 11 names and interestingly enough, all of the Francis names were crossed out. So, that leaves me with Frank Hoffmans. We do not know what the "G" stands for. I did notice that in the info you gave me to begin with that Ulysses' middle initial is given as "G" for the 1900 census, but in the 1880 census it is listed as "S". It is difficult to read handwriting at times and sometimes census takers make mistakes as we know, so it would be interesting to know which initial is correct. If it is the "G", then Francis could have been named after his father.

I noticed too that it appears there are many half brothers and sisters for Ulysses. From what I can piece together his mother and father were married before and both had children from those marriages. It seems that he only had two full sisters.

I did also look at some cemetary sites for Montgomery Co., IL where the family seems to have spent much time and where the 1910 census places Ulysses and Catherine. Some Hoffmans were listed in a couple of the cemetaries, but they did not match any names that I have. Of course, these lists may not have been complete. I was just hoping to find the couple.

I do not currently live in IL, but my parents do. They live in McLean Co. We have not checked into the marriage certificates yet, but hopefully when we do something will turn up!

Oh, and I even tried to find out any information on the Wilma L. Hoffman, but didn't have much luck.

I will just keep searching for information! This is more than I ever expected!!

Thanks again!
Amanda
