I do not know if Mary Eliabeth Hildermann was raised Catholic. I do know she raised her children as Catholic. The History of Madison County shows Mary Hildermann and Adolf Schmiz in Bethalto in 1869. In the History of Madison County it shows her name as Hildermann, on her marriage record, it shows Hildermann, unknown as to parents on her death certificate. Family history says her surname was "Freeze" and she was raised by her Grandmother Hildermann. I have been unable to verify this information.
