Bill Schultz, You still around? Back in 2006, you wrote:

"I did find a R. S. Doolittle in 1860 census (in Tazewell, Ill) with 2 daughters, Mary and Martha. and a new wife."

Why do you think he was with a *new* wife? Because of the age gap between twins Mary and Martha (age 14) and the 5-year-old son Samuel? Note his wife is Ellen of Virginia.

I do find R.S. Doolittle in 1850 census, with 7-year-old Mary and no mom. They were in Waynesville, Dewitt, Illinois. Where's Martha?

*I'm* trying to find out who R.S. Doolittle was. He was born in Virginia. Looks like he died by 1870 because it looks like his wife Ellen is the Eleanor now married to a James Brereton? in Tazewell, Illinois, with a young child, and Samuel Doolittle.

Thanks.

Hope you're still out there.
