David Bartlett from Madison Co. was in Co. G., 49th Regt, Illinois Infantry, NOT the 83rd.

It was a different David Bartlett in Co. G. 83rd Regt.

Both filed for a pension, but the David Bartlett from Madison Co. filed much earlier. The date is difficult to read, but it looks like it might have been filed in 1863 (the year he was discharged). I'll try to find a better reading of the date. There were no other filings on this Civil War pension, and no death date or location given.

But that dashes my theory that your David was still living in 1880. I'm so sorry I was not more careful, I was looking at the Company number which was the same for both.

I'll still see if I can find more.
