Looking for a missing Bauer in the family tree

Hi, and thank you in advance if anyone is able to help.
I'm looking for information about my paternal great-grandfather, who nobody seems to know anything about. I'd love to see if I or someone else could shed some light on this figure--even knowing his name would be great. The same goes with his wife--I'd love to find out her maiden name.
Anyway, here's the info. I have that may help:

-Don't know his name, birthday, birth place, etc. Her name was Grace, born in or about 1896.

-Married(?) a Grace, maiden name unknown, and they had at least three children: Grace, Pearl and Walter. Walter was born in 1911, Grace in 1914. I don't know about Pearl, and there may be more info.

-Grace and he split up for reasons unknown--it may be that he died, they may have gotten divorced--no one knows, but it had to have taken place before 1921, when she remarried. Grace remarried to a Peter Annach who subsequently raised Grace, Pearl and Walter. In census records, Grace has her children listed with Peter's surname, Annach, even though they were Bauers and they used the surname Bauer in their own lives later.

The location for marriages, life, etc., should be Chicago, Illinois.
