Mary Szymura Anderson, my great-grandmother, was born in Prussia/Poland(Germany) in 1862 and died 1931, probably in Chicago IL. She also lived many years in Milwaukee WI. According to the 1880 US Census, Mary (age 18) was living in New York City with father Stanislass (Paul) Szymura, born in Germany/Poland, 1832, and mother Rozalia/Rosalia "Annie" (nee:Lewandowicz), born in Germany/Poland, 1840. Stanislass Szymura died in NYC 29 Mar 1897. In 1880, Mary had 3 sisters-- Eleonore/Leonora, aged 15, died NYC 22 Feb 1895; Cathrine, aged 5, death unknown; Louise, aged, death unknown; and 1 brother: Valentine, aged 8, died NYC 8 Dec 1892. Mary Szymura married Julian Andryson in NYC around 1886. They had 7 children, only 2 surviving: Ludwig Jahn (Louis John) Anderson, b.NYC 28 May 1887, d.Milw.WI, 27 July 1959 (Annie) Thekla (m. Richard Zielinski) b.NYC 27 July 1894; d. Chicago IL 22 Aug. 1980. Until her death in Milw WI in 1914, Mary's mother (Rozalia) lived with Mary or Mary's daughter Thekla (Anderson) Zielinski. I have no idea what happened to Mary's surviving sisters (or possible other brothers?). It is possible that Mary had some relatives living in Pittsburg PA, as one of my aunts recalls visiting there when she was a girl. I would also like to trace the Szymura/Lewandowicz connection to W.Prussia/Poland. Any info is appreciated. Notify Administrator about this message?
