I am trying to acquire any information available on Civil War veteran George S. Mair who was born in Kempsey, Australia. Anything on his life, family, descendants, death and especially where he is buried. He enlisted and was mustered in at 18 years of age as a Private, on February 15, 1865 at Danville, Illinois. He was mustered into "A" Co. Illinois 154th Infantry on February 15, 1865 and was mustered out at Nashville, Tennessee; on September 18, 1865. He eventually got married and lived in Whiting, Jackson County, Kansas, to a lady named Mary T., who is listed as a housekeeper at Whiting, Jackson County, Kansas. She was born in March 1840 in Indiana and had one living child. On Nov. 14, 1889 Mair applied for a pension while living in Kansas, application #737801/certificate #596902 and on July 6, 1891 his widow Mary T. Mair applied for a pension while living in Kansas, after his death; application #519197/certificate #360565. I am trying to compile a story on him for the Veterans Memorial Website, www.acwv.info. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Sincerely,

James Gray
