The Tampico Area Historical Society is located in Tampico, Whiteside County, IL. It is the birthplace of President Ronald Reagan, the only president born in Illinois. It is also the birthplace of Rear Admiral Joseph Mason Reeves and is the hometown of Mrs. Hugh Downs (Ruth Shaheen).
The organization encompasses parts of Whiteside and Bureau Counties in IL. We focus on Tampico, Hume Township, Hahnaman/Deer Grove and Propehtstown in Whiteside County and Thomas & Yorktown in Fairfield Township, Bureau County. By default, near-by towns are often incorporated. We have a very active message board that is monitored daily with many local residents offering input and answers. Volunteers offer assistance in your local research. Our website is a work-in-progress, offering thousands of pages of historical and genealogical information & photos.
