Thomas, thank you for the info. I have some of what you sent me. James Rufus Abernathys' parents are my g grandparents, William Chafin Abernathy and Matilda Jane West. No LaFon there that I can tell unless... it is Matildas' mothers maiden name. I just now found out what the parents names are. All I had to go on was where they were born. For that matter,"Mooia", is a very different name, sounds French. It will be exciting to find out.
