Would like to share info on John Yates Shelton, born 1809 in VA, & his family, especially his son, Thomas Jefferson Shelton. John Y. Shelton is living in Jefferson County, Illinois in 1839 with wife, Nancy M.(last name unknown). Their son, Thomas Jefferson Shelton, born Oct 1846 in IL, moved to Texas shortly after his marriage to Julia A. T. Carpenter in 1872. He settled in Caldwell County, Texas.
