Willy, I did fid that record of marriage and the year of marriage seems plausible but there appears to be no Lucinda Irving born in 1856 or so that would be in Illinois at Gallatin county according to various census records. Compounding the problem with this family is that on Hiram Cape(son) death certificate he shows his mother as Lucinda Travis, and on Prudy(daughter)her obit in wyoming shows her mother as Lucinda Gordon. I thought I had a lead on the Travis possibility because of the right age, etc in Crittenden county KY. There is a Lucinda Gordon the right age in Christian County KY in 1870 and it appears to be her mother, a Lucy Gordon. Jack Cape shows up in Shawneetown in 1870 and again in 1880 with wife, Lucinda and four children. The other 3 children are born after 1880 and no 1890 census and the mother and father are both deceased by 1894. What I need is a record of death for Lucinda Cape around 1893 or so. Jack Cape is listed as being deceased when the younger children, Sarah, Prudy, Richard, and May are placed out from the Illinois Children's Home. Sarah went to macoupin county, ILL and the other 3 were sent to Kansas. May Cape is my grandmother. Thanks for the information but not certain it is indeed the Jack Cape in Shawneetown.
