Charles, Ancestry.com has the Civil War Pension Index; there is a fee to access it. I would be happy to check the index to see if your ancestor applied for a pension, if you are not a subscriber. The Illinois State Archives website has the muster rolls and soldier database, which can be checked to see who served: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/databases.html If you find a relative who applied for a pension, the actual pension file can be ordered for a fee from the National Archives in DC. They have a website with more information: http://www.archives.gov/veterans/research/genealogy.html Regards, Barbara Notify Administrator about this message?
