Here is five hours of hunting the internet!!!!! I have tried taking you "Backward", through the census, so you will have to follow closely. Better yet, print these out, and then cut them into sections. That way you can place them census by census, in the proper names.

Now I am finding bits and pieces of RAMSEY information past the 1870 census, but they are really difficult to trace.

1850 Caldwell Co., KY - Civil Dist 1 - August 21, 1850
322/322
Ramsey, Paschal - 38 - farmer - $300 - VA
Mary - 74 - VA
(This was David's father and his grandmother for the 1850 census.)

July 24, 1854, Paschal Ramsey bought 4000 acres in IL for $250, but it didn't say where in IL.

In 1860, I find David, living with who must be his mothers sister and her family. Evidentually Paschal's wife died, and he LEFT!!!! Remember that in 1850 Paschal was living in KY and David states his mother was born in KY.

1860 Franklin Co., IL - Twp 5S - Range 1E - Marcy P.O. - August 2, 1860
725/925
Hammond, Vincent - 37 - farmer - $3500/700 - KY
Catherine - 36 - keeps house - KY
Milley - 13 - IL
Eli Jones - 14 - IL
Ramsey, David - 1 - IL

Now you have to remember, that IF someone was not at home, the enumerator had the right to ask the questions of anyone in the house, or even the neighbors. I REALLY think that the following is the Paschal Ramsey, father of David R.. I know the age is off, and the place of birth is not VA, but the county is right and lets face it, the name is MOST UNUSUAL!!!!!

1870 Perry Co., IL - Twp. 5 - Range 1 - June 11, 1870 - page 16
113/114
Isaac Lacket household
Ramsey, Pascall - 51 - farmer - 0/800 NC

I FINALLY!!!!! found David for the 1870 census, he is still living with who is probably his aunt and uncle and they have enumerated him under their name.

1870 Franklin Co., IL - Twp. 5 - Range 1 - Crittenden P.O. - July 7, 1870 - page 3/124
12/12
Hammond, Vincent - 48 - $8000/3000 - KY
Catherine - 45 - keeps house - KY
Jesse P. - 26 - $800/800 - IL
Clifton - 15 - IL
David R. - 12 - IL
