Stephen, 1850 Rockford, Winnebago co, Il. has a 25 y/o William DAGLASH, born Eng. His occupation is indicated as "tailor" He appears to be living in a boarding house. As for your immigration records, of the many ships manifests that are on-line, they are only a few of the many that still exist. Even more had never been saved and many were not even reported. LDS also has films for many of the major & minor ports in the U.S. & Canada. But, the earlier the immigration, the less chance of finding a record. Don't mean to discourage you but that's the way it is. When the cargo ships were returning to their home ports, rather than go back empty, passengers were a good source for revenue. Since most folk were heading for the U.S., fares to Canada were cheaper and all anyone had to do was walk across the border and continue their journey. William could have entered anywhere on the east coasts of Canada or the states or even thru the Gulf of Mexico to New Orleans, La. or Corpus Christi, Tx. Dick
