Just doing a lookup for you.

1870 shows them in Pike Co, Il. Residing near them is also a Zachary Ogle, of an age to be a brother/cousin to James.
I cannot located James on any prior census.

1880 census shows James and Hester in Elk Falls Township, Elk Co, Kansas. (page 272 & 273) LDS shows them in the household of Samuel Beckman's as "Something other than a direct relationship", but the image read they were a separate household. Residing with them were grandaughters Sylvia and Minnie Frowner.
Also in this township shows a Emma and Manly Ogle. Emma the dtr of Josiah and Rhoda Carr, age 19, Manly Ogle is the grandson of Josiah and is age 3 born in Kansas. Josiah runs a hotel.

1900
James Ogle Monticello, Johnson, Kansas abt 1821 Virginia White Father
(Hester not showing up in index)
Image shows:
He's 79, born Virginia, widowed,, parents TN and VA. He resides with son J W Ogle, who is 57. His wife is Margaret. JW born in Indiana. Also there is a George Ogle,19, nephew of JW, and 3 of his grandsons Raymond W and George W. they are 7 and 10.
In 1880, I find JW and family at Lexington, Johnson, Kansas. But I find only one James Ogle, born in 1820's indexed in all of Kansas.

I did find the following query, maybe you can contact her and see if she ever got an answer and if your Ogles are buried there?

Does anyone have records of Elk Falls Cemetery , Elk Falls , Ks
Lola Stout kitty@kans.com
Other info I've found suggests that this is still an active cemetery so maybe contacting them would be helpful as well.

Good Luck!

Sue
