I am looking for ancestors of my greatgrandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Griffith. Following is all the information I have...

Sarah Elizabeth GRIFFITH, b. about 1873 in Illinois, died after 1945 in the home of her daughter, Minerva Smith, Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois.

A child's birth certificate (Hazel) lists the mother's maiden name as Sarah Evans. However, on the same child's death certificate the mother's maiden name is Griffith. Sarah's estimated birth date is 1873 in Illinois. According to the personal information of a cousin, Sarah spent summers with her daughter, Minerva, in Springfield, Illinois, where she is said have died. The cousin stated that Minerva married Lee SMITH, and they lived on a farm outside Springfield.

Sarah married (1) Albert E. EVANS 06 Nov 1897 in Bond County, Illinois. They had one known child, Charles Evans (aka Smokey).

Information on the marriage (including the first name of Albert E.) is assumed. I found the information in a database. Although the wife is listed as Sadie E., the time fits in with a first marriage. My father knew the son, Charles. Charles was married and lived in Flint, Michigan.

She married (2) John Ervan TANT 11 Jan 1900 in Jackson County, Illinois. He was born 1873 in Kentucky, and died after 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri. John and Sarah divorced.

Again the marriage information is assumed. I estimated the date due to the first child's birth, and found information in a database that fit. In this entry the parties were listed as John TAUL and Sarah EVANS. The death date of both John and Sarah is estimated after 1945 due to the fact that my father remembers visiting each about that time.

They had six known children: Irvin Lee (1900 IL), Amy Gertrude(1902 MO), Minerva (1904), William E. (1908), Dorothy S. (1910 MO), and my grandmother Hazel Juanita (1914 MO).

Information on Irvin was found through his social security application. He was born 13 Aug 1900 in Stonefort, Saline County, Illinois, and died Jun 1966 in Fort Worth, Texas. He stated he was married his application on 14 Aug 1941.

Information on Amy was also found through her social security application (as well as personal knowledge). She was born 11 Jan 1902 in Missouri, and died 30 Sep 1993 in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan. In the 1930 census she is found married to Jess Miller, date estimated at 1923 location unknown. I personally knew her.

Information on Minerva is listed above in relation to Sarah's death. Her assumed vitals were found in the SSDI database: b. 26 Mar 1904, d. 01 Aug 1991.

No sourced information is known on William. Another estimated SSDI datadase entry is b. 10 Sep 1908, d. Oct 1983.

Dorothy was born 28 Mar 1910 in Kennett, Dunklin County, Missouri; d. 24 Jan 1991 in Pinckney, Macomb County, Michigan. She was married three times, the first of which was about 1933 to George NEWELL. I personally knew her, and spent summers with her and her third husband, John PLASHA.

Information on my grandmother, Hazel, is accurate. She was born 29 Aug 1914 in Campbell, Dunklin County, Missouri; d. 14 Jun 1967 in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan. Information was taken from birth, marriage, and death certicates of Hazel.

According to the 1930 census, John and Irvin were living in St. Louis, Missouri. John is listed as divorced, and Irvin is listed as married. The three girls (Amy, Dorothy, and Hazel) all moved to Flint, Michigan, though I am unsure what drew them to the area.

I have not been able to find any of the family listed in a census, besides the 1930 census of John and Irvin. Sarah is known to have lived in Illinois, Missouri, and Michigan.
