Hi, my name is Stephen Staniforth, originally from England. I am attempting to establish a family tie to a John Staniforth, originally from Yorkshire, England, who settled in Bloomington Ill. sometime in the 1840's / 1850's, He had a military record, as he served within 'C' company 5th Illinois Cavalry during the Civil War, from November 1861 until his discharge in Vicksburg Mississippi, November 1863.

After the war he returned to Bloomington and settled down, divorcing & then remarrying, until his death in 1888.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with any details of this man, his CW unit or photos of same, and if there are any living decendents around to share with me the life of this unknown 'Staniforth' CW hero.

Any assistence greatly appreciated, Stepheh Staniforth G. Grandson of Henry Staniforth of Darnell Yorks.
