Hi! I am looking for anyone who may have any information about Peterson families of Southern Illinois, particularly Alexander, Johnson, Pulaski, Massac, Union, and Williamson counties. I am in particular looking for John C. Peterson's parents. John was born in 1826 and died in 1892. He married Eliza Jane Kelley when he was 49, therefore he may have been married previously. Eliza's obituary says that John and Eliza's second husband, William, were brothers, but I do not believe they were because of the conflicting birth places of parents on Census records. I believe William was the son of Owen Peterson and Elizabeth Mercer. I have found several other Petersons in southern Illinois, and would be interested in communicating and sharing with anyone else who has done research in this area of Illinois.
