There was an orphanage by the name of Lutheran Orphan Home circa 1925 in Joliet, Will County, IL. My grandmother and her siblings resided there at that time. In our case, my great-grandmother was still alive, but my great-grandfather was deceased. In those days a single mother who could not afford to take care of her children would send them to this orphanage. The orphanage is now called The Guardian Angel Home.
