I don't think people went to court to have the spelling of the name "legally" changed back then. Therefor, I doubt you'd find any court record of the name change. Names were spelled different ways, depending upon how the name sounded to that person filling out the forms, census records, etc. IL State Archives, online databases: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/databases.html The Dargan name can be found in: Cook County Coroner's Inquest Record Index (1872-1911) Illinois Civil War Veterans Database Illinois Statewide Marriage Index (1763-1900) The Dargin name can be found in: Mexican War Veterans Database Illinois Statewide Marriage Index (1763-1900) JoDaviess County Almshouse Registers Index, 1846-1938 East St. Louis City Court Naturalization Papers Index, 1874-1906 Notify Administrator about this message?
