Death of Abraham and Nancy Jackson

I am trying to verify the cause of death of Abraham and Nancy Jackson, they both died the same time 1846, St.Clair Co.,Ill. around Belleville or Muscatah. Family lore says they were attacked and killed by indians, no record of indian trouble at that time, at least that I can find. This is my ggggraand parents and am trying to tie down family history. They moved to St. Clair Co. about 1830 from Tenn.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
