Pat--Good to get your inquiry. I have often wondered myself if our two Hughes lines are connected. That Rev. James Hughes of yours is intriguing. Here is my line in a nutshell:
William Hughes-b 1750--Virginia d in Lincoln Co. Ky 1830's
Burkett Hughes-b 1769?--Lincoln Co. Ky d--Gib Co. Indiana
Devenport Hughes- b 1803?--Lincoln Co. Ky--d Menard Co. Ill 1853
William Hughes-b. 1830 Gibson Co. Indianad Kansas 1896
Devenport had a brother named Austin Hughes also living in Menard Co in the 1850's 1860's time period.
Burkett also had whole lot of brothers. Some were George, Pratt, Absolome, John & also William and I think possibly Gabriel Hughes.
I found a James D. Hughes who was born in 1839 in Pike CO. Missouri. I think his father was Robert Hughes. This same James D. Hughes married a lady named Knowles who is of the same family of Knowles that My Grgrandfather and his 2 other brothers married into in the 1860's.
Do you know who your Robert E. Hughes's father is?
What do you think?
Thanks
Johnny
