Sweetwater, Ill is just outside of Springfield (maybe about 30 miles). The cemetery "Sugargrove" is just outside of the town now a crossroads.There is a Christian Church there built around 1860 by my minister relatives..Hughes, Powells, Alkires
Sweetwater is on my AAA Illnois map. It is near Greenview/Petersburg
probably 10 miles from Petersburg.
If I remember correctly there is a Sweetwater Cemetery list on the internet..
Sweetwater was settled in 1823 by Powells/Hughes/Alkires/and many others.. When Rev.James Hughes came in to the Saganamon Valley he said,
"Looks like my old Kentuckey"most were Disciples of Christ.. Many of the Powells left in 1851 and 1852 to go to Oregon..There is a Powell book written about their trip.
