Just learned from the Holland Society of New York that Claude Urban Ringo passed away on 12-15-2005 at Manor Care in Katakee, Il at age 94. Claude was born 3-28-1911 in Saybrook, Il. He graduted from Bloomington HS, in 1932, He was president of the Manual Arts Club om 1930. His working career was as a locomotive engineer. He married Marjorie Blas Rekker on 6-29-1933 in Bloomington. They had 3 children; Jean Ann Ringo, b. 5-29-1937, Rex Leonard Ringo, b. 7-13-1942 and Majorie Jane Ringo, b. 11-17-1944 all in Bloomington. Claude was the only child of Atlee Ringo and Belva Swain. Claude was keenly interested in genealogy and was active in the Bloomington Genealogy Society. He was also a key member of the Ringo family researchers and helped in publishing the Ringo Family History Series, a 14 volume history and genealogy of the Ringo family. Claude was descended from Philip Janszen Ringo, who came from Zeeland, Holland and landed in New Amsterdam in 1640 aboard his ship the LaGarce. Claude Ringo family genealogy and history is contained in Volume IV, the Cornelius Ringo line. He traveled widely in America and abroad. I met him in Ringoes, New Jersey.
