Our newspapers start @1855 or so, but the earliest ones are spotty at best. During the Civil War, they usually concentrated on war news and it is hard to find obits, births, marriages. I will check for the Lee obit in a few days. I usually go to the public library ( where the papers are) several times a week and to the genealogical library once a week.
I have found a very nice sketch on Hilleary Ball from Duis' Good Old Times in McLean County. Do you have that?

I do genealogy for the fun of it. I only charge if I have to go to the clerk's offices and pay for a marriage or death certificate ( they charge $10.00 and I think it is going up).
