Tom -- I am the (half) great-grandniece of Mary E. Irby, born around 1836 in Tennessee to William Irby and Nancy Hasley, who were married 05 Aug 1834 in Dickson County, Tennessee. Mary had a younger brother and sister, Stephen and Sally J. also born in Tennessee. Nancy (Hasley) Irby must have died some time after Sally's birth, for William Irby married Mary Marks 08 May 1845 in Massac County, Illinois. The family, with three more children (including Amanda who is my great-grandaunt), are in the 1850 Census for Massac County where the surname is spelled Erby. The family left Illinois a few years later, for David W. Irby was born in Texas about Aug 1854. William apparently died after creating one more daughter -- another Mary -- born about 1859. Mary (Marks) Irby is Head of Household in the 1860 Census of Dallas County, Texas, and her brother, Watt(s) Marks is living with the family. Stephen Irby, his wife Louisiana Virginia (Reedy) and 2-month-old Jno. W. are on the same census page as Mary (Marks). Sally J. Irby died of Typhoid Fever in May 1860. The Dallas County Marriage license/certificate says a David W. Ready married Mary Elizabeth Irby 28 Aug 1855. Is he your David Watkins Reedy -- and could she be my Mary E. Irby? That would be too cool since Stephen and Amanda also married Reedys! And what is our relationship? Noel Notify Administrator about this message?
