WESSLINGS: 1850 Arrival in Mason County

Herman Wessling, my ancestor, arrived from the province of Hannover in Germany around 1850. He brought with him his wife and three daughters. There is a land record indicating he bought property as early as 1852 in Mason Co. Another relative, presumably Herman's brother, Gerhard Wessling, also came from Germany about that time with an even larger family. Gerhard bought property as early as 1850 in Mason Co. The Wesslings inter-married with the Bishops, Wehmhoffs, and other Mason County families.

I have two specific queries. First, can anyone provide data as to precisely where the Wesslings came from in Germany? Second, can anyone tell for sure the relationship between Herman and Gerhard (brothers or otherwise)? Thank you for your help.
