MRS. LAURA ELISABETH POINSETT, formerly of this city, died at her home in Ottumwa on last Friday evening. Funeral services conducted by Elder C.E. Wolf of the Brethren Church, were held at the home in Ottumwa on Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after which the remains were brought to Chariton and taken to the Newbern Cemetery for interment.
MRS. POINSETT was 60 years of age and is survived by her husband, ROBERT POINSETT, and three children; MRS. EMMA KELLEY of Washington, D.C.; MRS. EVA M. WYLAND of Smith Center, Kas.; and WILLIAM R. OLIVER of Dubuque. She was born in Madison County, Ill. on February 12, 1845. In 1860 she was married to WILLIAM OLIVER of Newbern. He died in 1874 and in 1885 she was married to ROBT. POINSETT, who is now night switchman on the Burlington. They moved to Ottumwa about twelve years ago. She was held in high esteem and her death is mourned by a large circle of friends. When quite young she united with the M.E. Church and lived an earnest Christian life. She was a good neighbor and a kind and loving wife and mother.
